Barrhead is within commuting distance of Edmonton. Edmonton provides us with post-secondary institutions such as the University of Alberta, Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) and Grant McEwan College. The Barrhead & District Adult Learning Council is made up of individuals whose purpose is to promote lifelong learning within our community. Courses offered for Adult Learning, including Computer Skills, General Interest and Safety Tickets such as First Aid. Adult Learning courses may be offered by the council alone or in partnership with other community organizations. We believe the opportunity to learn comes in many guises; whether it is the hands-on learning of a new craft/computer course, or the intellectual stretching that is invoked by being involved in a self discovery or discussion group. We try to offer a diverse mosaic of courses to appeal to as many individuals of the community as possible. Of course, we cannot be all things to all people, but we try to be as flexible and innovative as our mandate and funding allow. Our door is always open for suggestions, new board members and instructors. We consider ourselves a stepping-stone on the path of lifelong learning. We hope that you do too. For further information call 780-674-7535.
