Please note that the fee for a Tax Certificate is $15.00. A Compliance Certificate is $25.00, unless it is a rush it is then $40.00.

Water, Sewer and Garbage pick-up: Arrangements must be made for the connection of water, sewer and garbage by calling 780-674-3301 or visiting the Town Office at 5014-50 Avenue. We also provide the service of pre-authorized withdrawal payments, please contact the Town Office for more information. There is a $100.00 refundable/transferable account meter deposit for residential and stores/offices, commercial and industrial are at a different rate. The Town of Barrhead provides residential and commercial garbage pick-up on a weekly basis. Fees for this service are billed bi-monthly in conjunction with utility bills. An average billing with 27m3 or 6000 imperial gallon usage of water is as follows:
Residential/Single Family:
Water = $36.20
Sewer = $18.10
Garbage = $15.40
Bi-monthly total = $69.70
Stores and Offices:
Water = $36.20
Sewer = $23.80
Garbage = $27.60
Bi-monthly total = $87.60
Commercial and Industrial:

Garbage Collection
 If you're new to Barrhead and you'd like to know when your garbage will be picked up, phone the Town Office at 780-674-3301 or click on collection schedule below.
To guarantee that your garbage is picked up, it must be out by 7:30 a.m. on your scheduled pick-up day, click on the following link for your collection schedule.
Garbage is picked up the day after a Statutory Holiday with the exception of Christmas Day and Good Friday.
In consideration of the health and safety of our staff, the Town implemented a Violation Tag Program in March 2007, relating to garbage pick-up service. Residences/businesses that do not respect the following will receive Violation Tags and their garbage may not be picked-up or emptied, this includes:

Unprepared (no can, bag or bundle)

Overweight garbage bags and containers (max. 55 lbs/25 kg)

Multiple grocery bags (bundle up/put into large black bags)

Unbagged or improperly contained animal waste or noxious matter in can
-
Hazardous material in can (car batteries, etc.)
-
Liquids in can (oil, paint, etc.)
-
Oversized container
-
Container is in poor repair (large industrial bins)

Commercial garbage bin - all garbage must be bagged and placed in bin

Barrhead Regional Landfill Site (SW-3-60-4-W5): Directions to the landfill are 4 miles west (Hwy. 18) and 2-1/4 miles north (R.R. 43 and North of Twp. 600). For the convenience of Town residents, access to the regional landfill site is provided. See schedule below for hours of operation. For more information call the Town Office at 780-674-3301.

Disposal of demolition materials at the Regional Landfill site include: cement, all construction material and any other (non-burnable) material.

Business Licenses: Business Licenses are required for all types of businesses of any kind. Business Licenses must be obtained from the Town Office prior to conducting the business. The license fee is $50.00 for Hawkers/Peddlers, $200.00 for out-of-town companies, $150.00 for homebased businesses and $100.00 for businesses in and around the Barrhead area. Development Permits: Development permits are required for all construction, sign placements, demolition, fence and deck construction. Building, gas, electrical and plumbing permits are available through other companies not affiliated with the Town. The permit fee is $25.00. For more information call the Town Office at 780-674-3301.
