Recreation & Sport Venues
Local leisure facilities feature many opportunities for all levels of fitness. Our new Agrena Recreation Complex houses a full-size indoor swimming pool, an ice arena, a walking track and a climbing wall. Other facilities offer curling, mini golf, bowling, tennis, boxing, judo, taikwondo, dance and skateboarding. As well, Barrhead is home to a very successful Seniors' Drop-in Centre which offers a range of scheduled and drop-in activities.

Barrhead Swimming Pool
The Barrhead Kinsmen Aquatic Centre offers a 25m - 5 lane indoor pool, pool side lounge area, whirlpool, climbing wall, tots pool, full shower and change facilities, multi-purpose room and first aid area.
The pool staff organize numerous events for families and kids, such as: swimming lessons, leadership classes, water fitness and birthday party packages. Call 780-674-3655 or 780-674-2532 for more details.

Barrhead Sportsgrounds
The sportsgrounds include adult baseball diamonds with bleachers, multi-use baseball diamonds, concession stands, washrooms and a play area. Call the Recreation Department for more information at 780-674-2532.
Barrhead Tennis Courts
Three asphalt surface tennis courts, fenced and located beside Highway 33 and adjacent to the sportsgrounds. Call the Recreation Department for more information at 780-674-2532.
Barrhead Curling Rink
Located on Highway 18 next to the tennis courts and swimming pool. There are 4 sheets of ice, shack bar, licensed lounge, with viewing at ice level and viewing upstairs. This facility also doubles as an indoor mini golf course, approximately the middle of May until the beginning of September. It's great fun for the whole family! Mini Golf - Come and play 9 or 18 holes of mini golf located in the Curling Rink. July 1st to August 30th, Tuesday to Saturday from 1:00-5:00 pm.
Blue Heron Bowl
Located on Highway 18 across from the tennis courts. There are 8 bowling lanes, shoe rental, snack bar, licensed lounge, lockers, league play and newon bowling. Call 780-674-2828 for more information.
Barrhead Seniors' Drop-in Centre
Located on Highway 18 next to the Blue Heron Bowling Alley. This vibrant seniors centre is active in the community and offers a wide range of social programs for seniors throughout the area. This centre can also be rented out for a wide range of other activities. Call 780-674-2828 for more information.
Barrhead Rodeo Grounds
Located just off of Highway 18, behind the Agrena and swimming pool. It is fully equipped for equestrian and rodeo events, with a permanent bleacher area, concessions, washrooms, RV parking and an Agricultural Society show barn. For more information contact Ken Anderson at 780-674-5586.
School Facilities
Pembina Hills School facilities are available for public use. The facilities include: amphitheater, drama theater, a racquetball court, fitness center, cafeteria, full shower and change room facilities, multipurpose ball diamonds, playground area, shale running track, soccer pitches, classrooms and gymnasiums in town and in the county at Meadowview, Ft. Homesteaders Walking Trail
Groomed trails for walking and cross country skiing, that follow the Paddle River from the Paddle Golf Course, through Beaver Brook to Barrhead Golf and Recreation Area. Beautiful during all seasons of the year. For more information call the Recreation Department at 780-674-2532.
Paddle River Golf Course
Located in the town limits on Highway 33 at the south entrance of town conveniently situated right beside the Rotary Park Campground. The facilities feature 9-holes, grass greens, mature trees, driving range and putting green, clubhouse and restaurant with licensed lounge, lockers, club and cart rentals and a certified club repair shop. Barrhead Golf Club
Situated five miles southwest of Barrhead. It is an 18-hole championship golf course with grass greens, driving range and putting green, clubhouse and restaurant with licensed lounge, camping facilities (no hookups), tournament bookings available, club and cart rentals, golf instructor, professional golf pro and a Pro Shop. Misty Ridge Ski Hill
In the winter, the Mistry Ridge Ski Hill offers downhill skiing, snowboarding, snowbladding and equipment rentals. The facility offers a concession stand, ski lessons, equipment rental and certified ski patrol. Situated along the Athabasca River it is 16 miles north of Barrhead, on the Neerlandia Secondary Hwy. 769 and 6 miles west on Township Road 622.
