Agrena & Parks

The primary function of the Agrena Parks Supervisor is to ensure the arena, parks and sports fields are well maintained. With knowledgeable maintenance staff and an open attitude toward the public and user groups, the Town of Barrhead provides first class facilities and parks, which can be enjoyed by young and old.

Summer Staff:

  • 1 full time
  • 4 summer students

Winter Staff:

  • 5 full time

Arena Hours of Operation

  • Summer: Monday - Friday from 8:00 am-5:00 pm
  • Winter: 7 days a week from 8:00 am-1:00 am

The Town of Barrhead Public Services Department staff consists of 14 members and one foreman. Their responsibilities range from looking after the water and sewage collection, distribution and treatment system/facilities, to sidewalk and street maintenance, to daily and weekly garbage pick-up. Public Services also assists in hiring and over-seeing engineering firms and contractors on major projects.

The water supply is administered by the Town of Barrhead and the Utility bills are billed bi-monthly.  Sewage treatment is provided by 3 aeriated ponds, 1 polishing pond and 2 storage ponds.  The Town's Recycling program and depot are operated by a contractor. The rest of the solid waste is hauled to a modified landfill site for disposal.

Four Public Services Department staff are on-loan to the Agrena in winter months and this crew is re-assigned to maintenance of parks and boulevards in the summer.

Public Services also provides support during events such as Rodeos, Fairs, Parades, the Christmas Light-Up and other special events.

 

Recreation Department

The Recreation Department is involved in a variety of recreation and leisure projects and activities in conjunction with many community groups.

All bookings for facilities will be taken at the Recreation Office at the Agrena and Summer Staff will be operating out of the Agrena as well. Therefore, all your recreation needs will be met in one area.
