Taxation

Water, Sewer, and Garbage collection
Water, Sewer and Garbage pick-up: Arrangements must be made for the connection of water, sewer and garbage by calling 780-674-3301 or visiting the Town Office at 5014-50 Avenue. We also provide the service of pre-authorized withdrawal payments, please contact the Town Office for more information.
There is a $165.00 refundable/transferable account meter deposit for residential customers. Commercial account meter deposits are charged according to the classification of the customers' account. The Town of Barrhead provides residential and commercial garbage pick-up on a weekly basis. Fees for this service are billed bi-monthly in conjunction with utility bills. An average billing with 27m3 or 6000 imperial gallon usage of water is as follows:
Residential/Single Family:
Water = $63.00
Sewer = $25.20
Garbage = $18.50
Bi-monthly total = $106.70
Stores and Offices:
Water = $63.00
Sewer = $25.20
Garbage = $31.90
Bi-monthly total = $120.10
Commercial and Industrial:
Water = $63.00
Sewer = $25.20
Garbage = $100.00
Bi-monthly total = $188.20

Dog Licenses:
Dogs must be registered with the Town Office on a yearly basis (January-December). No more than two (2) dogs are allowed at each residence. The license fee is $20.00 for intact animals and $8.00 for neutered or spayed animals. For more information call the Town Office at 780-674-3301.

Business Licenses:
Business Licenses are required for all types of businesses of any kind. Business Licenses must be obtained from the Town Office prior to conducting the business. The license fee is $50.00 for Hawkers/Peddlers, $200.00 for out-of-town companies, $150.00 for homebased businesses and $100.00 for businesses in and around the Barrhead area. Development Permits:
Development permits are required for all construction, sign placements, demolition, fence and deck construction. Building, gas, electrical and plumbing permits are available through other companies not affiliated with the Town. The permit fee is $25.00. For more information call the Town Office at 780-674-3301.
