POSITION: CAMPGROUND ATTENDANT (Seasonal)
SUMMARY
The Town of Barrhead is seeking a responsible, self-motivated individual to fill a seasonal Campground Attendant position. This role is well suited for someone who enjoys working outdoors, interacting with the public, and taking pride in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming recreational environment. This seasonal position will run from approximately May 15 to October 12-13, weather and campground usage dependant.
The Campground Attendant will oversee the day-to-day operations and general upkeep of the municipal campground. The successful candidate will be required to reside on-site in their own camper for the full duration of the season, acting as the primary on-site presence for campers.
This role requires a strong commitment to being available throughout the camping season, including overnight stays, weekends, and all peak periods. The attendant is expected to spend the majority of the summer living at the campground to ensure consistent supervision and service.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform routine grounds maintenance, including mowing and weed trimming of all campsites (occupied and unoccupied)
- Clean, inspect, and restock two pit toilets at least twice daily to maintain proper sanitation standards
- Monitor campground garbage and transport waste to designated dumpsters as required
- Collect camping fees, verify registrations, and ensure all users have checked in and paid appropriately
- Assist campers with the QR code system and online reservation platform, while also processing cash payments when necessary
- Oversee the cleanliness, condition, and functionality of the cook shack
- Provide customer service by answering questions, offering assistance, and supporting a positive campground experience
- Identify and report maintenance issues, safety concerns, or incidents to Town staff in a timely manner
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong reliability, accountability, and time management skills
- Comfortable performing light physical labour and working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Effective communication and basic customer service skills
- Experience handling cash or working in a public-facing role is considered an asset
ACCOMODATIONS & COMPENSATION
- The Campground Attendant must supply and reside in their own camper on-site
- Electrical service is provided; however, there are no water or sewer hookups available at the site
- Free access to water fill-up and sewer dumping is available nearby
Compensation is $800 per month
